Peyote Stitch Base Bracelet Variation

Making changes to a color palette of a familiar project is easy? But I feel more adventurous when color is just not enough to make it perfect.

For my recent custom order bracelet, choosing colors was easy, because I just had to match it to the client’s existing jewelry set. However, designing a bracelet that fits the set perfectly was a bit more complicated.

I started with a peyote stitch base bracelet which is probably the easiest part of the project. Anyone can do it. Well, anyone who can peyote, of course.

For the second layer of the design, I chose several types of beads and colors which was much more than I usually worked with for this type of bracelet. All these beads reflected the color and the theme of the jewelry set of the client, and therefore, I couldn’t overlook it.

However, including too many types of beads for this layer would probably overwhelm the viewer. Besides, when beading, it very easy to get carried away when free-forming the second layer of such bracelets. I can add and add beads endlessly without thinking or paying attention to the design as a whole. You can see how I overcame this design challenge using a simple trick I described in one of my previous articles.

When the second layer was finished, I still felt that the bracelet is not in a perfect marriage with the jewelry set it was supposed to match. This is how I decided to add a third layer.

For the third layer of the design, I used a free-form peyote stitch technique idea. That’s right, just an idea. There is no second row of peyote in the third layer, but because I stitched through the beads of the previous layer, I decided to call it this way.

If you like this design idea, read more about it in my previous articles and learn how to make these bracelets:
