Summer weekend on the Oregon coast in Oceanside was my first trip after the stay-at-home order ended and safe leisure travel became possible.
Several days on the Oregon coast were always a treat for me! This year it became even more special.
We went to celebrate our friend’s birthday at the beach and by the ocean. So, not only beach walks, but food and good wine were part of the plan.
We stayed in a house in Oceanside within a short walking distance from the beach. Not using a car on all weekend, we kept walking back and forth in different directions, exploring the area.
Oceanside Beach

Every day we enjoyed walking on this beach. It was fun to observe people, look at the town, and the ocean.
Tunnel Beach
To reach this beach, we had to pass the small tunnel between Oceanside Beach and Tunnel Beach.

What a beautiful place!

I walked there several times over the weekend to see it under different lighting conditions, and I can’t even say which time of day looked more appealing.
Short Beach

A short drive from Oceanside, we found a lovely spot on the coast – the Short Beach.

I made a short video about it that shows what the waterfall looks like and what it feels like to spend some time there.

Food and Wine
Oceanside is a very small town. We noticed only a couple of places to grab a bite there. We preferred to cook in the house, especially because we wanted to pair food and wine to make our stay even more memorable.
Such experience was Oysters Rockefeller – a recipe and a dish with a history.
As many of you know, I photograph and write for another blog about wine – Wine Swinging. If you are a wine lover, you are very welcome to check out our wine reviews and recipes that my husband and I share every week.
Inspiration
Looking closely at the textures and shapes on the beach, one can always find plenty of inspiration for artwork.
When we spotted a huge starfish on the shore, we couldn’t stop photographing it.

I immediately noticed how the details of this ocean creature resemble bead embroidery and beadwork projects I already made in the past. Yet, I would start over and make another attempt to interpret it. Would you?
The cluster of muscles, like a bunch of dragon claws, inspired me to make a necklace. I have yet to decide which materials I should use to depict this texture. What do you think?

Oregon coast is a beautiful place to visit in summer. If you haven’t been there yet, you absolutely should visit it at least once in your life. I’ve been living nearby for 7 years, and every time I enjoy visiting it again and again.
